18. YÜZYILDA TOKAT KAZA MERKEZİ'NDE EĞİTİM ÖĞRETİM HİZMETLERİNİ DESTEKLEYEN VAKIFLAR*

Abstract

Vakıflar, bir kurum olarak Osmanlı toplum yaşamında bazı hizmetlerin yürütülmesi açısından oldukça önemliydi. Bir bakıma, günümüzde sosyal devlet anlayışında tezahür eden birçok hizmet devlet eliyle değil vakıflar aracılığıyla gerçekleştirilmekteydi. Bu hizmetler arasında eğitim-öğretim faaliyetleri önemli bir yer tutmaktaydı. Bu çalışma, 18. yüzyılda ekonomik gelişmişlik konusunda ileri seviyede olduğunu tahmin ettiğimiz Tokat şehrinde kurulu vakıfların eğitim ve öğretim faaliyetleriyle ilgilerini konu edinmektedir. Şehirdeki eğitim hizmetleri sıbyan mektepleri, medreseler, zaviyeler, camiler ve kütüphaneler bazında, hem örgün hem de yaygın eğitimi içeren beş başlık yayacak beş başlık altında değerlendirilmiştir.

Foundations as an institution were highly important in terms of executing some services in the Ottoman social life. Alot of services occuring in the social state"s mentality at the present time were carried out through foundations not by the state in a sense. Related activities with education had an important place among these services. This study focuses on the relations of the foundations established in Tokat and advanced as a level approximately in terms of economic development in the 18th century. Education and teaching services in the city are examined under five headings as elementary schools, madrasas, zawiyas, mosques and libraries including formal and non-formal education in the study .
